Course 10 · Lesson 2 of 12
Every rule on the price
| Rule | Say this | Never say |
|---|---|---|
| The rate holds while subscribed | "The rate you come in at is the rate you keep for as long as you stay subscribed. If you come off and come back, you come back at whatever the price is then." | "Locked", "for life" |
| The rate follows the account | "And it holds on seats you add as your team grows. The rate follows the account, not the seat." The anti-gaming line always follows. | Anything suggesting buying fewer seats now |
| The anti-gaming line (same breath) | "This is here for teams that grow, not for holding a place in the queue: if an account takes a single seat and then comes back much later wanting two hundred, we will price the new seats at whichever band is open then. If your team is genuinely growing, you will never come across this." | A paraphrase; how long is "much later" |
| A team counts fully | "Each band is 250 seats and a team counts fully against it, so one order can close a band on its own. That's why I can't tell you when a band will close." If an order crosses a band: "John will confirm from billing how your seats price before you pay." | A per-account cap (D15) |
| The deadline | "Founding rates close on 31 December, or when the band fills." | Any other date, "this week only" |
| No discounting | "No, and I'd rather tell you that straight than pretend to go and ask." Then: "The product is the product. It costs what it costs. Everyone in your band pays the same." | "Let me see what I can do" |
| No automatic renewals | "Nothing rolls over without a conversation." Do not volunteer to recruitment buyers. | |
| No trial; payment at sign-up | "There's no free trial at launch. When you're ready, we'll set you up and take payment at sign-up, at the band that's open that day." | "You can buy it on the site" (D29) |
| Contract shape (PENDING, D18) | "You start on a rolling monthly basis. To keep your founding rate long term you'll move onto a twelve-month agreement when the initial period ends; the exact initial period is in the terms you sign." Then: "That twelve-month agreement is how you keep your price. It isn't a hoop; it's the mechanism." Say it before they sign. | A period length; an annual discount on a band |
| Losing the founding rate | "If you pause or cancel, the founding rate goes. If a payment is missed there's a short window to put it right first; the exact period is in the terms." Never lead with it; never hide it. | A number of days (pending with Karl) |
| Usage and billing | "You're not billed by usage. It's billed per person, monthly." | A fair use clause |
| Seats remaining | Only from live billing, with the time: "As of this morning, billing shows [number] seats left in [band]." No live figure: "I don't have a live number this morning." | "Nearly full", "going fast" |
| UK only | "Our terms are UK only at launch." Large overseas organisation: "Alex looks at those personally; I'll put you in touch." |
