Event playbook
RuleNever sell at an event, network or group that has a no-selling rule. Keep the host's rules, ask for nothing, and follow up only with people who said yes to hearing from us. A governance product cannot be caught bending a room's rule.
- Before. Read the host's rules. If unsure, ask the host and follow the strictest reading. No deck, no laptop, no demo.
- During. Do not bring Maktura up. If asked what you do, answer in one sentence ("Maktura gets everyone in your business visible on LinkedIn, in their own voice, inside your rules, with an assistant called Holly doing the heavy lifting") and turn the conversation back to them. Steering the conversation towards the problem so people ask you is still selling. No meeting requests, no card collecting for a list, no prices across the table. Never repeat one attendee's comments to another or post photos of people without consent.
- If someone asks to hear more: "Happy to. Would it be useful if I sent you the link tomorrow? I'll just send the link, nothing else." Note only what they said yes to.
- The next day, a short note to each person who said yes: one link, no attachment.
The note is one link, no attachment, offering 30 minutes to see Holly drafting for someone in their role, and a no-problem exit.
Log each as Engaged, source "event". If they do not reply, that is the answer: leave it. Where selling is allowed (an expo stand, a speaking slot), do not pitch from the stage: the talk is about the problem and the evidence, and Maktura is named once at the end if the organiser allows. On a stand, the first-call offer and a booked follow-up are fine.
